Get the Look: A Festive Holiday Mantel Lonny’s

Now that we’re firmly in November, it’s time to turn our thoughts to the holidays and all that entails. But don’t panic: 

decorating

 your home for the season doesn’t require overcomplicated wreath designs or a serious investment in flocked

snow

. We’ve chosen several of our favorite decorative accessories from IKEA to create an effortless arrangement for the all-important fireplace mantel—and keep you feeling festive all winter long. Watch the video to see how it all came together, and click the image at top to shop the story.

MAKE IT WORK

1. Create a focal point. Rather than clearing the existing wall mirror to make room for a wreath, we layered the two together with a simple ribbon placement. The result is a dimensional center that the rest of the design can build off of. A long garland frames the entire mantel.

2. Choose candlesticks and votives of varied heights. These clear and white glass options can easily be used in other areas of your home year-round.

3. Incorporate LED lights. Unlike an open flame, these lanterns are safe to leave unattended.

4. Add an owl (or two). We topped a couple of candleholders with fun owl ornaments in mouth blown glass for a bit of subtle whimsy.

Remember! Never leave a burning candle unattended.
