This Hair Conditioning Treatment Can Double as Salad Dressing(Source: Whole Foods)We're all about natural ingredients here at StyleBistro. But how about a hair conditioning treatment with ingredients so pure, you can put them on your salad? (Is your stomach growling yet?) Kristen Arnett, Whole Foods Market beauty contributor and founder of GreenbeautyTeam.com, shares this DIY recipe that's so natural, you can toss it on your lunch, too.

Hair Dressing Conditioner

Ingredients:
One cup water
Four sprigs of rosemary
Five to eight drops of rosemary essential oil
One third apple cider vinegar

Two tablespoons olive oil
One tablespoon avocado oil
One egg yolk
One quarter of a lemon (optional; lemon can lighten hair if exposed to sunlight while mixture is on hair)

Steps:
Bring water to a boil and add in four sprigs of rosemary. Then lower heat to a simmer and cover pot for 45 minutes. Next, strain water into a non-breakable mixing bowl and let it cool to a warm temperature. Once the rosemary-infused water is warm, whisk in the remaining ingredients slowly and thoroughly. Note: The mixture will have a liquid consistency, so it’s best to head to the shower for application. Apply the mixture to dry hair and scalp. Coating hair thoroughly either by pouring it directly onto the hair from the roots or by dunking strands into the bowl and working it upward with your hands. Once hair is covered with the mixture, wrap hair into a bun and cover with plastic wrap to help contain the treatment and help it penetrate the hair shaft. Let your hair "marinate" for 30 minutes and follow with a shampoo.

1) Wash and rinse with the coldest water you can stand to lock in shine and moisture, and to keep the egg from cooking in your hair.
2) Avoid shampoos with harsh ingredients that strip the hair of the moisture you just applied.
3) If your hair ends up too oily after it dries, try a bit of cornstarch to soak up the oil. Just apply the powder with fingertips directly to your scalp. Then rub or comb through until the powder disappears.
4) If your hair ends up too dry (we're looking at you, ladies with very curly, coarse and/or dry hair), dip your fingers into some coconut oil and work it into the strands of your hair, starting from the bottom, moving up and avoiding the roots.
5) If you actually do want to make a salad dressing out of this (and why wouldn't you?), take three sprigs of rosemary, three tablespoons of olive oil, two tablespoons of avocado oil, three tablespoons apple cider vinegar, juice from half a lemon, one half teaspoon salt and a pinch of pepper and combine in a jar. Shake well. Pour over tomatoes and avocados, and enjoy!

Benefits:
Rosemary balances oily scalps and adds shine while conditioning. Apple cider vinegar
balances pH levels and helps soothe your scalp. Filled with mono-unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E, extra virgin olive oil adds moisture and strength. On the other hand, the acidic nature of lemons help to detoxify our bodies from the inside. It also protects hair from product buildup and chlorine. Finally, egg yolks are rich in protein, vitamins A and D, and fatty acids, which help condition, add shine, repair and protect.
